Which one to look for
The road car and the record car. 5.9-litre twin-turbocharged flat-plane V8, 1,350 hp on 91 octane and 1,750 hp on E85, 2,750 lb dry, drag coefficient 0.279, seven-speed CIMA automated manual. Every verified run was made in this specification.
Track-only and not DOT compliant, so it cannot be registered for road use. Racing roll cage, unrestricted exhaust, and the engine taken to 2,200 hp and 1,604 lb-ft on methanol, with around 1,100 lb of downforce at 160 mph. SSC has never quoted a top speed for it.
The street-legal track version. A large fixed rear wing and dive planes raise downforce to roughly three times the standard car's, at the cost of top speed.
